The Feeney Tensioning Tool is an easy-to-use tool for tightening stainless steel cable runs that terminate with a Quick-Connect® Inset fitting. It efficiently pulls cable through the fitting and maximizes cable tension, making it ideal for long runs where consistent, controlled tension matters.
This kit includes the 90-Degree Adapter, which lets you tension cables in tight or restricted spaces, such as where a terminating post sits next to a wall, column, or other obstruction. The adapter slips into place and locks down with a thumb screw, so you can reach areas a standard tool cannot.
Key Features
- Controlled tension: A dial at the base of the handle sets the tension level, with a clear indicator running from "Start" up to "Max" so you never overtension a run.
- Audible feedback: An audible click and a slight kickback at the handles let you know the selected tension has been reached.
- Works in tight spaces: The included 90-Degree Adapter handles tensioning where a post is close to a wall or fixed surface.
- Fits two cable sizes: Compatible with both 1/8-in. and 3/16-in. diameter stainless steel CableRail using interchangeable guide plates.
- Interchangeable guide plates: The 1/8-in. guide plate comes pre-attached, and the 3/16-in. plate swaps in with two screws.
Specifications
- Compatible cable: 1/8-in. and 3/16-in. stainless steel CableRail
- Fitting type: Quick-Connect® Inset
- Included guide plates: 1/8-in. (SKU TNT : GP-0.125, pre-attached) and 3/16-in. (SKU TNT : GP-0.188)
- Minimum clearance with adapter: 2-1/2 in. gap between the Quick-Connect® post and the wall or fixed surface
- Minimum cable protrusion: 10 in. of cable out of the Quick-Connect® Inset fitting for proper grip
How It Works
- Set the dial to "Start" to calibrate the tool to the lowest tension level.
- Insert the tip of the guide plate into the Quick-Connect® Inset fitting.
- Spread the handles to open the spring-loaded gripping jaw, then pass the cable through the grooved area and into the jaw.
- Close the handles smoothly to tension the cable. Listen for the click and feel for the slight kickback that signals your target tension.
- If slack remains, repeat the process a second time.
