Select Height Range

Select the floor to floor height range for your stair:

Measure the height from your finished ground floor to the finished floor above that the stair will access. Select the height range below that this floor to floor measurement falls within.

**Note: If (and only if) your floor to floor measurement falls within two possible height ranges:
By choosing the height range with the smaller maximum height your stair will have fewer steps and a larger rise between the steps. Alternatively, by selecting the height range with the larger maximum height, your stair will include more steps and have a shorter rise between the steps.

(For example, if your floor to floor height measurement is 94", it falls within both the 85" to 95" and 93" to 104" height ranges. By selecting the 85" to 95" height range, the stair will include 9 steps, and the height distance between the steps will be 9.4". Or, by selecting the 93" to 104" height range, your stair will include 10 steps and the height between steps will be a shorter 8.54".)

Stair Rotation

Choose the rotation for your stair:

Right Hand Up / Counterclockwise Up: As you walk up the stair from the ground floor, the handrail will be on your right side, and you will walk in a counterclockwise direction up the stair.

Left Hand Up / Clockwise Up: As you walk up the stair from the ground floor, the handrail will be on your left side, and you will walk in a clockwise direction up the stair.

Powder Coat Option

Powder coat your stair?

The standard finish on this stair is a high quality primer coat that is ready to be painted. You can upgrade your stair to a professional finish black or white powder coat finish.

Steel powder coating is a very high end finish that cannot be matched by any home spraying system. It starts with a 5 step wash process which thoroughly cleans the steel using a mix of high pressure water, heat, and special combination rinses that prepare the steel for the finish it is about to receive. This process is superior to sandblasting which will never truly remove all the dirt and other particles on the stair; this comess from over thirty years experience with spirals trying different processes. The powder is then sprayed onto the stair which is promptly put into a specialty high temperature oven to ensure the powder is baked on properly. The stairs are then hand checked to ensure the quality of the finish. This is the ultimate in finishes and a truly professional process.

* Note: If you choose the powdercoat option, continuous sleeves must also be added to your stair.

Built custom to your riser height, continuous sleeves provide a smooth look for your center column.

(1) If you upgrade your handrail to a wood handrail and/or select the powder coat option, continuous sleeves must also be added to your stair.

Tread Upgrade Options

Upgrade your treads?

Upgrade the standard smooth closed end treads to one of the following options:

Diamond pattern tread: provides a non-skid surface
Oak tread cover: Red oak treads are nosed and sanded to a fine finish and ready to be stained or painted.
Long curved tread: Classic steel tread with closed ends and curved riser.
Ivy stencil tread: Stenciled steel tread with ivy design and closed ends.
Code riser tread: Code risers will maintain a space less than 4" between treads. Closed ends.
Diamond pattern tread with Code Riser: provides a non-skid surface with Code risers to maintain a space less than 4" between treads. Closed ends.

Additional Platform Rail

Add an additional platform rail?

One railing section is included standard with the spiral stair kit that extends from the pole along one side of the platform. Add an additional platform rail section to your stair platform to create a parallel or L-shaped ( 90 degree) handrail configuration on the platform. This is used when one side of the platform will not be against a wall, such as when the platform is installed in the middle of a deck or balcony.

For new construction or an addition/renovation the classic iron steel spiral stair will fit your style and budget. With no special tools required for installation any DIY homeowner or contractor can install one.

This code compliant kit is designed to comply with Universal Building Code (UBC), International Fire Code (IFC), Building Officials Code Administrators International (BOCA) and International Residential Code (IRC). Always check with you local code enforcement officer for local code requirements.

Finish:

A standard black primer finish is included in the cost of the spiral metal stairs. A very high quality primer is used that will prepare the stair for paint to be applied once it is installed. In some instances customers who do not plan on using the stair very often or it is installed in a place where it is not seen actually leave the primer as the only paint coat due to its high quality. We often hear that people think the primer coat is all they need once they see it and depending upon where and how often it is used.
