Choose Rail Bracket Type & Quantity

Choose your bracket style:

Choose vertical - or - horizontal style rail support brackets.

The recommended spacing between each support is 32", or 4 brackets for the first 8' of straight rail, and 3 brackets for each additional 8' of straight rail. Each curved track should get 2 rail brackets.

To calculate a recomended number of brackets for your straight runs of rail, follow these steps:

1. Total up the number of feet of straight rail for each run of rail
2. Convert the total number of feet of straight rail to inches. (For instance 10' = 120")
3. Divide the number of inches by 32, and round fractional amounts up. (For example 120 / 32 = 3.75, round up to 4)
4. Add 1 to the previous number to get your total number of brackets. For 10' of straight rail, your total number of brackets should be 5.

Choose End Stop Style for Rail Ends

End stops terminate and finish the ends of your railing. End stops are sold in pairs. (2 each per qty)

If you need to trim or cut your rail to size, rail end covers are used where the rail is cut and covers the cut portion of the rail in case the plating chips. End Covers are sold in pairs. (2 each per qty)

Add rail splice kits?

Rail splice kits are used to join two sections of rail together to create a longer rail. Typical installations will use a total of (1) less number of splice kits than the total number of individual rail sections for your project. For instance, if you are creating a run of rail that is 16' using (2x) 6' rails, and (1x) 4' rail (3 total individual sections of rail), you would use (2) splice kits to join them together.

Track Mounting Height

Enter in the exact measured rail height rounded up to the nearest inch. This is the height measured from the finished floor to where the center of the rail will be installed. Your library ladder will be custom built to this rail height, with the ladder itself projecting approximately 5" above this rail height. For example, if your rail height is 91", the ladder itself will be approximately 96" tall.

These Quiet Glide rolling bookshelf ladder kits get you rolling as fast as possible with minimal assembly. These are an excellent option for use as rolling library ladders, a way to maximize storage, or just a great way to add a classic look in any space. Ladders are available in nine wood species, including: Alder, Birch, Cherry, Hickory, Maple, Mahogany, White Oak, Red Oak, and Walnut. We can build to your custom height up to a 10’ ladder (115" rail height). Just measure from the floor to where you want the center of the rail, and we'll build the custom ladder for you!
