For an 8 x 10 room with rails on all four sides, what lengths of straight and radius of curves would I need? Also, how best to join the pieces? Thank you.

The rails can be cut to size and joined with a splice kit. Please refer to the flyer listed under the documents tab on the product page.

Where is the slot for the brackets - on the "back" of the rail, or on the "bottom"? For my installation I need to use brackets that are vertically oriented so the slot is on the bottom and the rail sits atop the brackets.

The slot for the bracket on the curved rails is located on the back of the rail.
